Jaipur-The Pink City Of India The city of Jaipur is the capital of Rajasthan and is situated at a distance of approximately 265 km from Delhi. Literally meaning the city of victory, it is one of the three cities of the famous golden triangle of India. Jaipur, India is also known as the "Pink City" and was founded by Sawai jai Singh to overcome the problem of increasing population and scarcity of water in his original capital. He hired the services of a Bengali architect, Vidhyadhar Bhattacharya, who built it as per the Hindu treatise, Shilp Shastra. Sohna Hills Sohna Hills is situated at a distance of 56 km from Delhi. The name "Sohna" literally means gold. The place got this name from the gold dust that was once collected from the sands of streams flowing around it. There is also a pretty health-cum-holiday resort in Sohna Hills, near Delhi. Standing atop the Aravalli hills, the resort offers a breathtaking view of the landscape below. On the adjacent hill, is a ruined fortress, once a stronghold of local chieftains. Delhi Sohna Hills is the perfect place to get some break from the routine stressful life of the cities. Damdama Lake Damdama Lake is situated at a distance of approximately 56 km to the south east of Delhi. A three hours drive, Dum Duma Lake, near Delhi, is a nice place for having fun and adventure. Located near the Aravalli Hills, this lake is your best bet for rock climbing. Also, Delhi Dumdama Lake is the perfect place to go for boating. Badkhal Lake The Badkhal Lake is situated in Faridabad, at a distance of approximately 32 km from Delhi. With the Aravalli hills on the periphery, the Badkhal Lake presents a picturesque sight. A 30-minutes drive, Badkal Lake, near Delhi, is very famous for its water sports like boating, canoeing, kayaking, etc. There is also a luxury yacht for those with an adventurous nature. Badhkal Lake is noted for its tranquility, along with the small cottages that have been built at an elevated ground. Sultanpur Bird Sanctuary Sultanpur National Park lies approximately 46 km to the south-west of Delhi. The national park is famous for its greenery, rich variety of bird species and a splendid lake. Sultanpur Lake National Park in Delhi was declared a water-bird reserve in the year 1972. Beautiful lawns, trees, shrubs and bougainvilleas dot the landscape of the park. Suraj Kund Surajkund is situated approximately 20 km from the heart of Delhi, between the villages of Baharpur and Lakkarpur. Located in the state of Haryana, the village gets its name from a fabulous water tank housed inside it. It is said that Suraj Pal, a Rajput King, got the tank constructed in the 11th century. Surajkund, near Delhi, is the perfect place to spend a day enjoying the rustic splendor of the city. It serves as the ideal break from the hectic and stressful life of the cities. Ballabhgarh Lake Ballabgarh Lake is situated at a distance of approximately 36 km from Delhi.
